from Pinoy TV program: Filipino Community Council of Victoria Incorporated (FCCVI) in turmoil as deep divisions appear among community leaders during the 2005 Annual General Meeting!

The Filipino Community Council of Victoria Inc.’s (FCCVI) Annual General Meeting was suspended mid way through the proceedings, when Ernie Demate, the returning officer, suddenly called off the election of new officers for fear of legal action being taken against the organisation.

This came after a disagreement broke out between a faction lead by Romy Binghay, the incumbent Chairperson, and another faction led by Jing Sosa, on the interpretation on the deadline of when new members can be officially admitted as formal members to the Council and their eligibility to vote at the AGM.

Pinoy TV has dramatic and exclusive footage on the preliminary discussions between the candidates to clarify and resolve the matter before the AGM began. The discussions also brought up many concerns on the conduct and practices of the organization and among its current and past committee members.
